Steel with a wood grain pressed into it and a stained finish over the top. From the kerb it reads as timber. It never needs refinishing, and it costs a fraction of the real thing.
How it is made
A pressed grain,a stained finish.
The steel skin is embossed with a timber grain before finishing, then coated in a multi-layer stain that mimics the tone and depth of real wood. The better ones vary the grain across panels so it does not repeat.
Because the substrate is steel, it behaves like steel. It does not swell in winter, split in summer or need sanding and re-oiling every few years, which in this climate is a genuine saving of both money and weekends.
Add black strap hinges, a ring handle and a row of glazing and it reads as a carriage door from the street. That combination is the single most requested thing we fit.

No. Looking at a door and telling you what it needs is not a service we bill for. There is no diagnostic fee added at the end, and the measure for a replacement is free whether or not you order one.
How long does a new garage door take to install?
A standard single or double door is usually a half-day once the door is on site. Custom timber and full-view glass doors are made to order and take longer to arrive, though the fitting itself is much the same.
Should I insulate my garage door in Riverside?
It is worth it if the garage is attached to living space or you use it as a workshop. An insulated door will not air-condition the garage, but it takes the edge off afternoon heat soak and it is noticeably quieter to operate.
If the garage is detached and used for storage, the money is usually better spent on the door itself than on the insulation rating.
What is R-value on a garage door?
A measure of how well the door resists heat transfer, with higher numbers meaning better insulation. Values range from about 6 on a basic insulated steel door to 18 or more on a polyurethane-filled one. It only matters if the garage is conditioned or attached.
Steel or wood garage door: which is better?
Steel for almost everyone. It costs less, resists warping in Inland Empire heat, and modern wood-grain finishes are convincing from the kerb. Real timber looks better close up and suits period or high-end homes, but it needs refinishing every few years.
Can you replace just one panel of my garage door?
Sometimes. It depends on whether your model is still in production and whether the colour still matches after years of sun. On doors older than about fifteen years a match is unlikely, and replacement usually makes better financial sense.
Do I need a new opener with a new door?
Not usually. A working opener will run a new door as long as the weight is similar. If you are moving from a light uninsulated door to a heavy insulated or timber one, the opener may need upgrading, and we will tell you before you buy.
Do you take the old garage door away?
Yes. Removal and disposal of the old door and hardware is included in every replacement we quote. You will not find it stacked beside the bins after we leave.
How long should a new garage door last?
Twenty to thirty years for the door itself in this climate. The moving parts wear out much sooner: springs at seven to twelve years, rollers around ten, and openers between ten and fifteen. Those are maintenance items, not door failures.
