What we aim for

We build and maintain this site against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. That is a standard, not a certificate: parts of a site can fall short of it without anyone noticing until somebody tells us.

What that means in practice

• Every page can be operated with a keyboard alone, and the focused element is visible.
• Images that carry meaning have text alternatives; decorative ones are hidden from screen readers.
• Headings run in order so a screen reader can be used to skim a page.
• Text reflows down to a narrow phone screen and up to 200% zoom without content being cut off.
• Buttons and links are large enough to hit accurately on a touchscreen.
• Nothing important is conveyed by color alone.

Known limitations

We would rather name these than let you discover them.

• The before-and-after comparison slider is drag-only. It cannot currently be moved with a keyboard. Both photographs behind it do carry full text descriptions, so a screen reader will still describe the damaged door and the replacement — but the drag control itself is a gap, and we are fixing it.

If you find something else that does not work, we would rather hear it than not.

Telling us about a problem

Call us and say you are ringing about the website — you will get a person, not a menu. Tell us what page you were on, what you were trying to do, and what device or assistive technology you were using if you know. We will reply within five business days and tell you either that it is fixed or when it will be.
